Bet365 refuses to honour David Silva goalscorer props

By | Watchdog | No Comments

In Monday’s Premier League match between Manchester City and West Brom Albion, David Silva opened the scoring at the 9′ mark by deflecting a soft roller from Yaya Toure. While the goal was clearly Silva’s, the official scorekeeper missed the tip, incorrectly giving the goal to Toure. Many sportsbooks including Betfair, SkyBet, and BetVictor honored both Toure and Silva wagers out of good faith. However one of the biggest names in the industry, Bet365, refused to do so.

The Goal

Here is footage of the first goal scored by Manchester City. The deflection off of Silva’s leg is evident.

Some of the industry’s big names were quick to spot the scorekeeping error, and decided to honour both Silva and Toure first and any-time goalscorer wagers. Considering that Silva’s markets were widely bet, they clearly took a big loss by doing this, but did it anyway.

Here is Betfair’s response:

And SkyBet’s response:

Public Reaction

As Bet365 takes a significant amount of footy action, you can expect that the reaction from their customers was not a good one. Here are some of the tweets that we saw from people who had:

This poor lad had David Silva scoring the first goal parlayed with a 3-0 City correct score prediction at 20/1!

On the other end, this lad had 3-0 City and Silva FGS as well on SkyBet and they paid it out.

We will keep our eyes open to see how Bet365 responds to this. As one of the industry leaders for sportsbetting, it cannot be a +EV move to hold out like this with the way their close competition has handled the situation.

Spite-Switch

Many Bet365 customers do not want to give the highly regarded sportsbook any more business after being screwed in Monday’s match. That is an acceptable reaction; if the customers do not hold the sportsbook accountable, then they will continue to abuse the system. Betfair is a sportsbook that we at Frostbet have given a very high review score. They were one of the big names to pay out both Toure and Silva goalscoring propositions out of good faith. If you would like to boycott Bet365 until they resolve this issue, you can sign up using the link below. You will gain access to a $200 deposit bonus automatically.

Bovada users need to double-check their balances

By | Watchdog | No Comments

Bovada updated their user interface yesterday. It kept the website offline for the entire afternoon, leading to many dissatisfied customers. When the website went back online, it lead to more complaints as the new website layout was more confusing than ESPN’s latest update. And that was an abortion. It was a foolish move on Bovada’s part. When we reviewed their site, one of the areas they excelled in was their simple user interface. They did not make it confusing like some of the other sportsbooks on the market.

While the user interface is something to consider, it is nothing compared to some of the issues that Bovada customers have been experiencing with short-changing. I was contacted through DM by a user who wishes to remain anonymous. Since the update, he has experienced two grading errors that have resulted in a loss of money that Bovada refuses to pay back.

The following exerts are from a conversation between myself and the anonymous user. I had had a discussion with him the prior day suggesting that he would use a sports-book that was higher ranked in Frostbet’s review index.

Since our last conversation, he ran into an issue where Bovada took away $55 from him. They graded his play as a push, but did not refund him the stake. He stated that they refused to acknowledge his claim, and that one of his friends had also been screwed over from the same sportsbook. He wanted me to retweet one of his tweets where he expressed his frustrations with Bovada, hoping to get it more attention so customer support would acknowledge his claim. As of now they did not.

I provided him with the bonus link to use when he signs up for 5Dimes (this is available for everyone by the way). I requested that he describes the situation in detail so I could include it in the official Frostbet review, and in the Watchdog section of the website.

He claimed that he bet on the Tampa Bay Rays/Baltimore Orioles over on July 25th, 2015. This play lost, however they credited his account with the amount of money that would correlate to a win. He did not notice what happened until the morning, when he checked his betting history and realize Bovada’s mistake had been corrected. Its obviously not a good business model to have these glitches at all. Since Bovada were losing money in this scenario, you can be sure they would be quick to correct it.

customerreview

The real problem occurred when this user bet on the Toronto Blue Jays/Seattle Mariners over (which was lined at 7) for $55. The game ended 5-2 in favor of the home-team, which would warrant a push. The play was graded as a push, but the money was deducted from his account as if the play lost.

whoenever

I requested screenshot proof so I could take the word allegedly out of the title of this post. He said it would be difficult to prove as the ticket itself says push, but the money is not in his account.

realround

Until I get some solid evidence to add to this article we will just use this as a warning to users who use Bovada. Double-check your balance after each win or push to make sure that everything is where it should be. There is clearly a lot of technical glitches yet to be resolved with Bovada’s new (read: ugly) and improved (read: not improved) interface (read: “interface”). Watch your six.

If anyone ever has any issues with their sports-book, or someone in the sports-betting industry, feel free to contact me via Twitter or e-mail to discuss the situation. If you provide me with enough proof I will publish your article on this section of the website. I want to be able to give everyone a voice. Sportsbooks should not be able to boss anyone around. Its about time we keep them honest.

Bovada’s new layout killed my father and raped my mother

By | Watchdog | No Comments

Bovada angered a lot of its customers this week by having on-going scheduled maintenance. Rather than doing it in the middle of the night (since they are an American-only sportsbook who do not need to worry about an overseas client-base), they did it during weekend afternoon baseball.

The first rule of sportsbook club is that you do not talk about sportsbook club. The second rule is that you do not fuck with weekend afternoon baseball.

But luckily Bovada’s customers were forgiving when they saw all of the great new features the update brought, right? Well, they may have if they made any improvements in the first place.

The Update

Unbelievable, really. When we reviewed Bovada (and all of this applies to Bodog, the Canadian alternative), one of the few categories that we gave them an above-average rating in was their user interface. It was one of the few things that they had going for them. It was an easy website to navigate, making it somewhat attractive to new sportsbettors. Nevermind their terrible square odds, low-limits, slow line-posting, and visitor throttling. Always take the free points when they are offered, and Bovada did that.

Until now.

Its slow. Its unresponsive. And its fucking confusing.

One thing that I never understood about the world is that when certain companies have something that isn’t broken, they insist on breaking it (I’m looking at you, ESPN website. What the hell were they thinking?). I am sure there is some marketing department filled with people who have never bet on sports before forcing in updates that have no business being implemented. Let me tell you something about people who bet on sports: They do not need change. People do not like to change sportsbooks. The only time you will find someone wanting to move on to a new betting site is when shit like this happens.

I could rant forever on this update. Its an absolute eye-sore. Regardless of how much money Bovada spent developing this abomination, they should seriously consider reverting it immediately.

Lets take a look at the prop list, now stashed away in the “Game View” button (whatever that is suppose to mean). To nobodies surprise, its a huge downgrade from the player/team/sector tabs they had prior.

I mean, I suppose one could get use to this disaster after a while if you really put your heart to it. But Bovada raises you all-in. On top of ensuring that you have absolutely no idea whats going on, they also made it slow as hell.

Anything you click on will prompt this red donut to spin around for a few seconds. Laughing at your frustrations, feeding off your anger. The only sportsbook that I have ever encountered that seemed to be deliberately slow was TopBet, and they got eviscerated for it in the Frostbet review.

Public Reaction

Lets take a look at the Twitter response to the latest Bovada update.

Watchdog Blog

By | Watchdog

The sportsbetting industry is filled with scumbags. From touts who sell picks using fraudulent records, to sportsbooks that refuse to payout their customers. Someone needs to keep them honest.

The Watchdog blog will be dedicated to exposing all of the scammers and frauds in this part of the internet. People will do anything to get paid, regardless of how immoral it is. This section of Frostbet is going to focus on providing evidence on those who are guilty of dishonest acts.

In order to avoid any potential libel or slander backlash, all claims made in this section of the website (and pretty much every other section) will come with proof. This can be in the form of screenshots, videos, or audio recordings. This way there is no possibility of stepping out of line, saying something that is not true. You are only as good as the standards you live up to.

If you have had any bad experiences with people who sell picks that you later realized were being dishonest, feel free to contact us with all of the proof you have. If we deem the content worthy it will be written and published. I will be writing the criteria for an honest handicapper later on. This will cover all of the tricks that dishonest handicappers try to do to make their service seem better than it actually is.
